Domony Valley, which is developing spectacularly from year to year, belongs administratively to the area of Domony.

In the immediate neighbourhood is the Gödöllő Area of Environmental Protection, where the bathing and fishing facilities in man-made lakes, and the beautiful woods attract people coming for a one-day trip and holidaymakers alike.

Due to its regular supply of water in the 18th and the 19th centuries, and even in the first half of the 20th century, there were many watermills on the Egres stream.

Domony Valley was first inhabited in the 18th century and has been developing and becoming more beautiful ever since.

Just half way between the Gödöllő Royal Palace and the Domony Valley Lázár Equestrian Park you can visit the only two-storey baroque church and monastery which are considered both very interesting and rare places of interest.

The Besnyő chapel, the lower and upper church, and the monastery built for the Capuchin Brothers were established by Count Antal Grassalkovich and his wife between 1761 and 1771. The family crypt, and the enormous marble cinerarium created in their honour, may be viewed at the lower church.
The upper church contains a statuette of the Mary of Loreto carved from black cedar, which the Capuchin Brothers carried on foot from Loreto. The smallest holy relic in Hungary, which is only 11cm high and 4cm wide, was rediscovered in miraculous circumstances and has made Máriabesnyő a famous pilgrimage destination.

The Gödöllő baroque Theatre, a European rarity, has once more opened its doors to the public. The theatre is the oldest new age stone theatre in our country. The Palace Theatre, which was opened in autumn 1986, is the only surviving theatre with coulisse system and has received prestigious domestic and foreign recognition for the reconstruction work.

At the end of 2004, the list of places of interest was further enriched, by the opening of an exhibition of the portraits of the Hungarian Kings and Chieftains in the Királydomb Pavilion.

In the last few years the palace has become an important cultural venue for both local and international events including classical music concerts, performances of opera, and theatre productions. The elegant, tastefully designed gift shop and coffee shop guarantee the comfort of the guests while the large halls provide an elegant venue for exclusive events.
